New dedicated lanes over Port Mann Bridge to Coquitlam

Important Traffic Flow Change To Highway 1

Starting March 7, 2015, Port Mann Bridge drivers heading to Coquitlam via Exit 44 (to Lougheed Highway or the Mary Hill Bypass) will now use new dedicated lanes over the bridge.

This means the westbound exit for Exit 44 to Coquitlam will be moved to before the Port Mann Bridge, at thePort Mann Bridge Map 152 Street interchange in Surrey.

The westbound exit point for Exit 44 to Coquitlam will be moved to before the Port Mann Bridge, at the 152 Street interchange in Surrey.

Drivers on the highway and those joining Highway 1 via 152 Street will need to watch for new signs in the area to make sure they use the correct lane—Vancouver traffic should stay left and Coquitlam traffic should stay right (as shown in the map).

Once drivers choose to exit at the new Exit 44, they will be separated from highway traffic and unable to rejoin Highway 1.

What to expect

  • Drivers using Exit 44 for Coquitlam will need to follow signs and must keep right at the 152 Street Interchange.
  • 152 Street westbound on-ramp traffic will also need to follow signs and will have a choice—stay right for Coquitlam or stay left for Vancouver.
  • HOV drivers and drivers entering Highway 1 westbound via the 156 Street HOV on-ramp wishing to access Coquitlam will need to use the Brunette Interchange.
  • One of the new Coquitlam lanes across the Port Mann Bridge will be temporarily closed for two weeks (weather dependent).
  • Once drivers choose to exit at the new Exit 44, they will be separated from highway traffic and unable to rejoin Highway 1.
