Punjab Home Minister killed in suicide attack

Attock, Aug. 16: Punjab Home Minister Colonel (Retd.) Shuja Khanzada was killed in a suicide attack on his political office in Shadi Khan village near Attock today.

Dr. Syed Elahi, advisor to the chief minister of Punjab, confirmed his death, the Dawn reports.

Khanzada, who assumed charge of the Punjab Home Ministry in October last year, had been actively involved in major operations against terror outfits.

Several others lost their lives in the blast.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan have condemned the attack.

The rescue operations are currently underway. (ANI)
